About the Company

The company first got together in May 2007 performing a production of Ostrovsky’s A Family Affair at the Battersea Arts Centre as part of Mary Greco’s final Assessment for her MA in Theatre Directing.

We enjoyed working together so much that we all agreed, depending on availability, that we would perform as a group again. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival appealed to us because of its reputation and as some of the members of the cast had performed there in the past.

The play Just Trust Me... is a piece of new writing and was written specifically with the actors in mind. Unfortunately, some of the original company members were unable to participate this year but we have been lucky enough to recruit some equally talented new members!

Although Just trust me... is set in 1912, we as a company feel that its themes of greed and amorality apply to today’s society. We hope that its ‘tongue-in-cheek’ style of humour will appeal to wide variety of audiences at the Festival.

If anyone is wondering why we call ourselves Fat Toad Theatre Company, the name was inspired by a particular audience member who succeeded in keeping a snarl throughout our first performance together last year. Needless to say what we nicknamed them...
